Makrolon® solar skylights

Environmentally friendly energy production on board

Flexible solar modules don’t only belong on excursion boats and other commercially-run craft. Yachts can also benefit from the Makrolon® solar modules sold by SUNOVATION. The modules, which can be made to measure for a ship’s hatches, can be used to cover part of the vessel’s energy requirements or charge the batteries. The solar skylights are particularly advantageous in that they require no extra space and, thanks to their integration into the craft, are impossible to steal. Even when partly in shadow, they still deliver charging current, which is fed in to the on-board power supply system. The modules’ output depends on the skylight’s transparency level, which is designed for values of 27, 23 or 16 Watts. Downstream, a special MPP step-up charge regulator adapts the voltage to the 12- or 24-volt on-board power supply system. Alongside solar skylights, SUNOVATION also offers other solar solutions, both stand-alone and integrated to the vessel – for example semi-transparent control cabin awnings.
